Reading tips
Turn the page
Click or tap on the outer margins to turn left or right in the book.
Use Page Down or Space for the next page, and Page Up or Shift+Space for the previous page. See the keyboard shortcuts for more options.
Choose pagination or scrolling
Open Ambra settings → Reading preferences → Reading mode to choose pagination or scrolling. Scrolling can be useful for continuous screen-reader reading. Fixed-layout books keep their original layout.
Use Alt+Shift+Page Down for scrolling or Alt+Shift+Page Up for pagination (Option instead of Alt on Mac).
Adjust the reading appearance
For reflowable books, Book options (Aa) changes text size, typography, and page width. Choose Book default to use the publisher’s typography. Prefer a single page? Turn on Page → Always show one page. These choices are saved separately for each book.
Ambra settings (gear) applies across books: choose your language, interface theme, page color, brightness, and page-turn effect. Page color is under Reading preferences → Page theme; it is separate from the interface theme. Light or dark interface appearance follows your browser.
Look closer at images and tables
Click an image that offers zoom for a closer look. Scroll to zoom and drag to move around; 0 fits it to the window and Escape returns to reading.
For a wide table, choose Expand table at its upper edge to zoom and scroll without changing the page. See the Table viewer guide.
The best of EPUB
Footnotes and endnotes can open beside the passage without leaving the page. For your own notes, see Annotations and Bookmarks.
If your book includes recorded narration, read along with synchronized text highlighting.
